This region is also famous for Campobello Island summer home to Franklin D. Roosevelt. This majestic home is well preserved with beautiful gardens, manicured grounds and original furnishing from the period. A must see for any visitor to this area.
At the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, just west of Calais, you can view Maine waterfowl, bald eagles, deer and migratory birds in their natural habitat. Just a short drive north of Calais you arrive at Grand Lake Stream, an undisturbed wilderness area, haven for fishermen, hunters, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.
