The
residents of Washington County, Maine are the first to greet the sun
each
morning as it rises in the east over the panoramic view of the ocean
over
the rugged rock bound coast and picturesque rivers and streams that
flow
into the Atlantic. Inland vast stretches of wilderness awaits
with
blueberry fields which produce 70% of the nations wild
blueberries.
The coastal village of Lubec is best known for West Quoddy Head, the eastern most point of land in the United States and home to the much photographed West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and Quoddy Head State park with it's tree lined rugged cliffs that tower high above the ocean waves. This region is also famous for Campobello Island summer home to Franklin D. Roosevelt. This majestic home is well preserved with beautiful gardens, manicured grounds and original furnishing from the period. A must see for any visitor to this area.
